Windows keyboard shortcuts

Do you use Windows as your main Operating System? I do, both at work and at home. Over the years I've learned some keyboard shortcuts that come in pretty handy. For me, being able to quickly punch a couple of keys to perform a task is much faster and easier than using the mouse. If you use Windows, particularly at work, you might find these handy as well.

Let's start with the Windows Key (heretofore: winkey) shortcuts:

winkey + L - this will lock your screen. Way easier than CTRL+ALT+DEL and then clicking on the Lock Screen button.
winkey + Pause/Break - opens your system properties, one of the main areas you want to go when troubleshooting.
winkey + D will minimize all programs and show your desktop. Pressed twice, it will bring your programs back up to their original state.
winkey + E will open Windows Explorer
winkey by itself opens your start menu. You can arrow through the programs and menu's if you like.
winkey + R opens the Run window. From the run window you can access programs quickly. Some examples:

cmd brings up a command prompt
winword opens word
calc opens your calculator. good for the no-math-o's like me.
notepad opens notepad
firefox opens firefox

Some other useful commands:

ALT+TAB will switch between active windows. Holding ALT and pressing TAB will let you manually select which window to open.

ALT+F4 will close the window you currently have open. Use with caution.

F11 is commonly used to run your current window in Full Screen mode. Pressing it again will restore it to the previous size.

There are many, many more keyboard shortcuts out there. Check out this Wiki for more.
